Welcome to PFI Comics!
PFI Comics is a new production arm of the Paradise Film Institute at West Virginia State University. With the support of the Department of Communications and Media Studies and WVSU Printing Services, PFI Comics will serve as a public venue for student produced graphic narrative work. Traditionally a video and filmmaking program, WVSU has found the expansion into graphic narrative a natural transition. It is approached, and taught as, "cinema on the page." Simply another story-telling mass medium.
Like film, graphic narrative is a collaborative medium. PFI Comics uses the same "learn by doing" PFI filmmaking teaching formula where students are partnered with regional, national and international professionals to consult and collaborate on their creations. We have established a network of graphic novel artists from around the world who are now participating in our program.
